Kids can Sew

This past week at Heirlooms & Comforts we had four very good days with 14 youngsters who were learning to use a sewing machine and to sew. These youth are from 8 to 14 years of age and are clean slates waiting to have a life-skill printed on them. Judy Luke and Fran Kaiser are skilled teachers who manage a classroom beautifully. They made the sewing experience wonderful for these girls and boy. Yep. Boys sew too. Keep this in mind for your child, grandchild or special friend for next summer. Summer Sewing Camp is always the last week of July. Mark your calendar now for 2012 so that your child doesn't get that date taken by some other summer activity. Kids, learning for life.

H&C Feature of the Week: Havel Scissors
At Heirlooms & Comforts this week we will feature the 5" Serrated Blade Scissors from Havels at 20% off. These are new to the shop and come with a blade cover that protects from the very sharp point. The point and the serrated blade are very good for appliqué work because of the accuracy that these two feature produce. Fabric does not slip between the blades on these scissors when you are cutting those very small pieces. Check these out. You will love them at a bargain price.
